Overview
Description
An introduction to various taxonomic groups of fungi, emphasizing morphology, taxonomy, evolution, physiology, economic and ecological importance; includes the roles of fungi as both beneficial organisms and as causal agents in plants and animal diseases. Laboratory experiences will include classic morphological taxonomy, microscopic preparations and examination of specimens, selection of culture media, culture and identification of yeast, dermatophytes, and systemic and opportunistic fungi. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 2070K with a minimum grade of C.
